FAQs

No. Some of the women I work with are the most capable people in every room they walk into. You don't have to be falling apart to deserve support, and "I'm handling it" and "I'm okay" are not the same sentence.

A free 30-minute call to see if we're a fit. You tell me what's going on, I give you my honest read on what I'm seeing, and there's no pressure to book anything. If it feels right, we'll set up your first three sessions from there.

Watch my video here to learn more about our first call.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. Our first meeting, the Gut Check, is a chance to share what’s bringing you in, ask questions, and experience what it’s like to work together.

Please complete the intake paperwork before our session so we can use our time to focus fully on you.

It can help to reflect briefly on what feels most important to address or what you hope will change through therapy. Jotting down a few notes or examples can be useful, but there’s no “right” way to prepare.

For more information, watch my video on the Gut Check here.

essions are $325 for 50 minutes. Many of the women I work with find they want a little more room, especially early on when we're still getting to know each other, or during stretches when things feel particularly heavy. If that's you, we can go to 75 or 90 minutes, prorated at the same rate. We'll figure out together what actually fits.

I'm a private-pay practice, which means I don't take insurance. The upside is that our work is guided by what's actually useful to you, not by what a claims department will authorize or how many sessions a plan decides you're allowed. If you'd like to seek out-of-network reimbursement, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer (this does involve a formal diagnosis, and I'm glad to walk you through what that means for you).

Sessions are about 50 minutes, and I meet with clients weekly. Weekly is the rhythm the research points to for real, lasting progress, and there's something about a standing weekly hour that lets the work build instead of resetting each time.

If you'd benefit from more support, or want to move faster through a heavy stretch, we can talk about adding a session or extending our time. (More on session length and cost in the fees question above.)

That depends on you. Many of my clients work with me for a year or two, and a good number stay longer because they've come to value the space. This isn't quick-fix work, and it isn't meant to be. The patterns we're loosening took decades to set, and the women I see tend to find that a protected weekly hour to actually process their lives becomes one of the more useful things they do for themselves. Some reach a natural stopping point; others keep going because ongoing depth work is how they stay well. We check in on how it's going, and you decide what "enough" means.

I work psychodynamically, which means we look beneath the symptoms to the patterns and beliefs driving them. I also do dream work. As someone who's always struggled through small talk, going deep is my zen place. If you've only ever done the practical, homework-and-worksheets kind of therapy, this is a different, deeper experience.

Less different than you'd think, and for the kind of depth work I do, that difference is small. The research backs this up: for most people, virtual therapy is as effective as sitting in the same room. What you lose is the commute, the waiting room, and the logistical tax that keeps busy women out of therapy in the first place. A lot of my clients are surprised how quickly they get to the real stuff from their own living room, tea in hand, no rush-hour clock running in the back of their mind.

Yes. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist based in Chicago, and my practice is fully virtual across Illinois and all 40+ PSYPACT-participating states.

I don't. If you're in acute crisis or having thoughts of suicide, the right support is immediate and, ideally, local — someone who can be with you in a way a scheduled session can't. If you're in the U.S., you can call or text 988 anytime to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency room. When you're back on steadier ground and ready for the deeper work, I'll be here.
